Lakeshore Advantage, an economic development organization, has released its 2024 Industry Trends Report for Michigan’s Allegan and Ottawa Counties.
The report is based on interviews conducted with over 120 local executives, and highlights several key areas of economic strength in the two counties:
- Population: 426,398, with population growth of 19,683 (4.8%) over the last five years, and projected population growth of 15,793 (3.7%) over the next five years.
- Employment: 195,048, with job growth of 8,270 (4.4%) over the last five years, and projected job growth of 8,771 (4.5%) over the next five years.
Manufacturing provided the foundation for economic growth, equating to 40% of the region’s Gross Regional Product in 2023, with over $88,000 in average manufacturing earnings per worker.
